Grizzly 399 - Mother of 4

Grizzly 399 guides her four cubs-of the-year down a trail through the woods. In her 24 years of life to date, (which is old for a species that rarely makes it beyond age 20 in the wild) she has inspired millions of people.

She has faced hardships and triumphs, but her story has played a major role in the ongoing conservation effort in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

This year is another remarkable chapter of 399’s story as she emerged from hibernation with four cubs—an almost unheard of feat that occurs in only about 1-2 of 100 grizzly litters.
